Brent Freeman Cup Recap: L.A. Monsters FC Gets Two Early Goals

LA MIRADA, CA (January 29, 2024) – L.A. Monsters FC scored early and often to keep moving in the Brent Freeman Friendship Cup.

Hugo Cejo scored in the 11th minute and again in the 32nd minute as L.A. Monsters FC held on to beat Union Amaya FC 4-3 in a SoCal Premier League Brent Freeman Cup Round of 16 match at Los Angeles City College on Sunday, Jan. 28.

The San Pedro, CA-based club got a third goal from Amilcar Palacios, and a fourth from Andrei Montesions Silva, before clinging to the lead long enough to move onto the quarterfinals. 

Newcomers Gauchos International FC advanced out of the Round of 16 with a 9-1 win over Chapman FC, Mission Viejo FC U23 topped Fontana Legacy FC 3-1, Atlas FC South beat Inland Empire FC 2-1, Worldwide Problems FC edged Buena Park FC 2-1, Los Hermanos FC got past Irvine FC 2-0, and both Real Sociedad O.C. and Desert FC Reserves rolled on.
