Groups Are Set For 2024-25 Briones Cup

Published Nov 12, 2024

LA MIRADA, CA (November 12, 2024) - The field is set for the 2024-'25 Raul Briones Cup.

More than 24 of the top men's amateur clubs in Southern California are participating in the months-long event kicking off the weekend of Nov. 23-24. The winner, crowned in the spring, will earn a berth in the 2025 NISA Independent Cup.

"It's always exciting to organize the Raul Briones Cup every this year and keep the tradition going. So many clubs in Southern California have played in 'The Cup' that it's fairly well known at this point, and adding the spot in the NISA Independent Cup to the winner remains a nice cherry on top," SoCal Premier League Vice President Nick Peters said.

The top two in each group advance to the knockout round stages of the Raul Briones Cup while the third- and fourth-place finishers from each group move on to the Brent Freeman Friendship Cup, a seperate knockout round cup tournament that ensures every participating team group stage and knockout round play.

This year, the two teams with the most points after the group stage will move directly into the quarterfinal round.

"The Briones Cup is the top tournament in SoCal for men's amateur teams, no question," SoCal Premier League Vice President Dennis Pope said. "There isn't anything else like it for the top clubs here. We love it. It's in our DNA."

A draw was held on Monday night, Nov. 11 via Zoom and posted to YouTube. Watch HERE.
