LA MIRADA, CA (JULY 7, 2022) – Two days to change the trajectory of a club.

Peak XI FC travels from Colorado to Southern California for two matches in two days, and a big doubleheader at Whittier College’s Memorial Stadium wraps up what is sure to be a massive weekend for the NISA Independent Cup.

Superior, CO-based Peak XI FC gets things going against IE Republic FC at 7 p.m. PT on Saturday night, July 9 at Orange County Great Park Field No. 8 (7055 Marine Way, Irvine, CA 92618) in the first game in the West Coast Region.

“NISA represents soccer communities that have organically earned their way into existence by advocating for competition within their respective markets,” Peak XI FC President Don Harmon said. “Colorado is a territory where on-field merit is rewarded, and that principle aligns with our values. This is why we are proud to compete in the NISA Independent Cup representing Colorado. It’s exciting for us to be the first club from our Mountain Premier League to be included in this opportunity.”

Peak XI FC recently progressed through USASA Region IV qualifying and reached the final of the USASA Region IV tournament.

“The NISA Independent Cup gives us another great opportunity to test ourselves against the best in our region, and hopefully rise to the occasion in the spotlight that the tournament provides,” Harmon said.

Also on Saturday night, Valley FC Raiders hosts SC Saguaros at 8 p.m. at Bell Bank Park (1 Legacy Dr., Mesa, AZ 85212) in the NISA Independent Cup Southwest Region.

On Sunday, Olympiacos CA hosts Peak XI FC at 4 p.m. PT at Whittier College (7214 Canyon Dr., Whittier, CA 90602) in the NISA Independent Cup West Coast Region.

“This team has been working hard to establish itself over the last six months (and) I don’t think we’ve seen their best performance yet,” Harmon said. “The quality of talent Colorado offers is already on display throughout NISA but now this time it’s showcased on a club from Colorado."

The back end of the doubleheader at Whittier College pits Soul2Sole FC against AFC South Bay at 6 p.m. PT in a NISA Independent Cup SoCal Region game.

Admission at Whittier College is $10 at the gate for this event. All matches will be broadcast on Eleven Sports.
